Skills Development Facilitator services: WSP and ATR submissions
We plan and administer your company’s skills development, so your training spend is documented, submitted on time and recognised by your SETA.
What an SDF does for you
The main function of a Skills Development Facilitator is to plan and administer the skills development requirements of your organisation. Our team makes sure the strategic objectives of your business, together with the requirements of the Skills Development Act, are built into your Workplace Skills Plan.
Above all, we make sure your training expenses, internal and external, are correctly documented and submitted every year, together with the WSP, to the right SETA.
Choose the level of help you need
- We compile and submit your WSP and ATR. You run your own training; we handle the planning, reporting and submission.
- We manage the entire training process. From the skills audit to the last certificate, we plan, implement and report on your training.
What’s included
- determining job profiles and linking them to the OFO (Organising Framework for Occupations)
- identifying skills gaps through skills audits
- completing and submitting your WSP and ATR
- advising on your training budget and funding opportunities
- submitting applications for discretionary grants
Don’t lose your 20%
Employers with a payroll over R500,000 pay 1% of it as the Skills Development Levy. Submit your WSP and ATR by 30 April and you can claim 20% of that levy back as a mandatory grant. Miss the deadline and that year’s grant is gone. The next deadline is 30 April 2027.
Questions companies ask
What is a WSP and ATR?
The Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) sets out the training a company plans for the coming year. The Annual Training Report (ATR) reports on the training actually done in the previous year. Together they are submitted to your SETA each year to claim the mandatory grant.
When is the WSP and ATR deadline?
30 April every year. The next submission deadline is 30 April 2027.
What happens if we miss the 30 April deadline?
You forfeit your mandatory grant for that year, which is 20% of the Skills Development Levy you paid. It cannot be claimed back later.
Who needs a Skills Development Facilitator?
Any employer that wants to claim its mandatory grant needs a registered Skills Development Facilitator to prepare and submit its WSP and ATR. The SDF can be an employee or an external provider like us.
