About FT Skills Development Institute
An accredited training provider that provides quality learning interventions, led by an owner who has worked in skills development since 1985.
Who we are
FT Skills Development Institute is accredited with the QCTO for the registered occupational qualifications within the cleaning industry. Together with our sister company, Skills Development Academy, we have helped many companies implement skills development.
The company was registered in 2023 to become an accredited provider of occupational qualifications and an Assessment Centre. The people behind it are not new: our owner has worked in skills development since 1985, our staff have worked together on projects, learnerships and strategic training interventions for more than 15 years, and our training team collectively brings over 75 years of experience in the skills development industry.
That experience has built long-term relationships with our customers and with the SETA. We work closely with the Services SETA, and our team’s involvement in developing learning material, in SETA projects, and on committees and boards has grown each of us and the business.
Our sister company, Skills Development Academy, is recognised as an experienced and capable training provider within the cleaning industry, and is an accredited centre for recognition of prior learning (RPL). Where your staff need RPL, we arrange it through the Academy.
Our reputation rests on our commitment to our customers, our ability to innovate, our close involvement in every project, and putting our customers at the centre of what we do.

Our objectives
We provide education, training and development in a way that supports the skills strategies of the public and private sectors, SAQA, the QCTO, the SETAs and related institutions. We help keep business organisations viable, help learners achieve nationally recognised competencies, and help redress the inequitable practices of the past.
Our values
- Honesty with all parties
- Respect for others and for ourselves
- Commitment, dedication and quality delivery, which ensure integrity
Our philosophy
We develop individuals with their specific needs in mind, using a range of learning methods so that each person grows within themselves. Our aim is to integrate foundational, practical and reflexive skills in every training intervention.
